The Urban Design Research Of Old Urban Areas Based On Strengthening The Construction Of The Public Service Facility--Take Hebi As An Example

With the rapid development of cities and the accelerating construction of newly liberated areas of the city, the problem of serious decline has been arising in many old city zones where the functions of cities cannot satisfy the need of economy, culture and the basic life of resident. Furthermore, to some extent, it impedes the steps of the overall development of cities. Therefore, nowadays, how to promote the competition and attractiveness of old city zones and achieve their former prosperity turn into an important issue of our cities’development.However, the construction of most old city zones in our country for the present lacks the whole planning and comprehensiveness, which merely aims at solving the specific problems of housing and transportation but ignores "diversification" that cities should possess. This kind of lack is manifested by the deficiency of the public service facilities as well as imperfection of urban functions. Although old city zones have been reformed, it’s still difficult for them to produce attractiveness and cohesion, and the achievement of the purpose of old city zone’s revival is far from success. The paper, on the basis of these problems, puts forward the importance of strengthening the public service facility of the city, and points out that as the "bridge" of combining the planning with building design, the urban design should play its linking role of distributing value and constructing environment. That is, this design, on the macro level, should not only improve the public service facility that represents the benefit of the public, also, on the micro level, guide the construction design of the building itself, in an attempt to reach the unity of spatial environment, and finally achieve the best comprehensive benefit of design.The pace of urbanization in European and American countries is higher than that in China, so their problem of decline in old city zone has been already exposed. After undergoing a long period of transformation and renovation, they have accumulated certain design experience among which there are some successful and excellent examples, which can provide good models for the transformation and design of old city zone in our country. The paper puts forward urban design methods of strengthening the public service facility construction of old urban zone by analyzing some successful cases as well as combining urban design theories home and abroad, hoping that via the whole effective urban design, we can consummate the functions of old city zone, better their portrait, improve the quality of the environment and promote the sound and coordinated development of the entire city. In the end, the paper takes Hebi as an example to analyze some existing problems of the current situation of the public service facility of old city zone by studying the background, advances a further discussion about the urban design method of improving the public service facility allocation of old city zone and strengthening the construction of the public service.The paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter illustrates the background, the significance and the research purpose of the project, defines some concepts related to the object of the study, puts forward the basic framework of the research, and summarizes the current situation of the research at home and abroad. As for the second chapter, the paper obtains some design inspiration by studying certain successful foreign cases of urban design of the old city zone and analyzing some methods of strengthening the construction of the public service facility during the process of designing. The third chapter points out some issues about the construction of the public service facility of the old city zone in our country. Furthermore, from the macro, medium and micro levels, the paper proposes a few of urban design methods of strengthening the construction of the public service facility of the old city zone, as well as the classification and the advice for configuration index of the city’s public service facility. According to the above established theory system, the last chapter employs the way of case study, further discusses methods of strengthening the public service facility in the urban design of old city zone. The fifth chapter as the epilogue, summarizes the research process and mahods.
