| Combined with the example of Chongqing Tank warehouse, this thesis discussedthe usage of Pop art in transformation derelict industrial land. First of all, this thesisexpounded the pop art during the postmodern wave era. Pop art was standing at asignificant place in the development of postmodern, more than this, the Pop artlandscape design was also important to postmodern landscape design. The thesissummarized the definition, history and limitations of Pop art. After that, it discussed theartistic expression of Pop art and main artists with their works, Which were MarthaSchwartz, David. Stevens, Topher Delaney and Jerde Partnership International.The design idea of them had totally influenced the history of artistic expression. Iput my research in transformation and reusing the derelict industrial land. Not only thisthesis concluded the definition, classification and characteristics of derelict industrialland, but also expounded several modes of the derelict industrial land’s transformationand reusing which were Urban industry model, Culture industry pattern, Industrialtourism developing mode, the city public facilities mode and the post-industriallandscape mode. During those modes, main derelict industrial land’s regenerationmethods are industrial heritage protection and utilization, post-industrial design and oldindustrial building reusing. Modes of derelict industrial transformation and reusing,and the methods of regeneration design provides a theoretical support to the followpractice part.Combined with practice, my thesis had mainly talked about Pop art in regenerationdesign of derelict industrial land, used Chongqing Tank Warehouse as an example. Atthe same time, horizontal compared other derelict industrial land. To compare the Popart in derelict industrial land’s development at next section, I concluded the mainfeatures of pop art in derelict industrial land’s regeneration design this part. Just likeChongqing Tank Warehouse, compared with Manhattan Soho Area, when we treat itsdevelopment as culture industry pattern, Pop art were mainly reflecting totransformation and reusing of old industrial building; When we treat its development asIndustrial tourism developing mode, Pop art were reflecting to protection and reusing ofindustrial heritage; When we treat its development as post-industrial landscape mode,Pop art were reflecting to protection of industrial culture inheriting, recreation of artisticprocess, cross usage of ecology and the structure conformity of space layout. From the above discussion we could seen, in transformation and reusing of derelictindustrial land, Pop art had its cultural value, artistic value and financial value, it meanswe can learned that Pop art must has its feasibility in transformation and reusing ofderelict industrial land. On other hand, I put forward the limitations and deficiencies ofPop art. After all, to reach the ideal realm which is the harmony of people and theenvironment, while we proofing the advantages of Pop art, must designing for life, butnot only for eyes. |
