Research On The Regeneration Of Derelict Land

With the transformation from Industral Society to Post-Industrial Society, the western countries encountered the decline of traditional industry, consequently there came out a mass of derelict land. Most of this is close to centres of population, and constitutes a serious environmental threat to ordinary people. Beyond the restoration of ecosystem and landscape regeneration, they carefully preserved and reused the industrial heritage. The regeneration of derelict land had become a new paradigm of landscape design with its own object and a complete set of theories and methodology. Ecological rehabilitation of derelict land should be a multiple-scale and multiple-grade projiect rather than be limited in a single ecosystem, and should include ecosystem or biota, landscape and even region.China is just in the period of new-type industrialization and accelerated urbanization. With the transition of industrial structure and resourses exhaustion, the derelict land and run-down industrial facilities are increasing in China. Putting forward the landscape regeneration and eco-restoration of derelict land by the landscape strategy and to preserve and reuse the derelict land is an urgent task. Most of domestic study of the derelict land regeneration in western countries is case intrudution, lacking in systematic study explaining the definition and classification of derelict land. Derelict land regeneration pattern related research is especially rarely seen.This thesis is an elementary comprehensive study of theory and practice on derelict land. The thesis reviews the evolution of regeneration practice on derelict land, partition the course into several historic stages, with the historical study method; Also the thesis makes the case study of derelict land regeneration by different countries and areas; After the study of western practice, the thesis studies Chinese derilctland reused practice.The regeneration practice of the Nanhu coal mining collapse area in Tangshan is in the front row of our country. The investigation and study work are centered around the Nanhu coal mining collapse area. This thesis has analyzed the derelict land patterns and dynamic changes of Small South-lake Park and point out the strategy of the rehabilitation of Nanhu wetland park. Finally, with the theory and cases research foundation, the thesis presents some suggestion on derilct land regeneration practice strategy.
