The Study Of Design On Pubic Space Of Guanzhong’s Small Towns In Today’s New Situation

The Guanzhong area has been the focus point in “Western Development Project”for years, so the building project on small towns which belong to the area is always animportant theory, and, the public spaces in small towns have enjoyed a highdevelopment in recent years as well.However, in the last ten years in21st century, along with the accelerated pace ofurbanization and their public space, many problems occurs:1. Pedestrian landscapegradually disappears because of motorized transportation gradually being the lead;2.Daily Lives are more and more sundry because of the grows of non-agriculturalpopulation and small towns’ economic development, so the corresponding demand foroutdoor recreational activities will be more and more demanding;3. The large amountof land occupied by the government borned many huge public places in small towns;4.Many small towns lost their original characteristics because of urbanization. Newproblems calls the new situations, to the public space in Guanzhong small towns, thenew situations are aiming to create a more livable, safer urban environment.The paper is divided into four sections: histories, presents, challenges and solutions,First, study the Guanzhong small towns’ history and current situation through a lot ofinformation and in-depth research, then summed up four issues which need to beaddressed in the present construction:1. The revival of pedestrian traffic space;2. Thedesign on Humane Square spaces;3. Create evacuating public spaces.4. Studying thenew functions of public space on protecting the traditional folk culture activities.In the solution part, the paper aims to solve last two problems: Through thestudying on evacuating public space, finding the way to help the people in the town toevacuate more orderly, and more better, in order to save their lives; Through studying the new functions of public space on protecting the traditional folk culture activities,aiming to save the native cultures. Through these resolved issues, the paper’s purpose isto solve the contradiction between Guanzhong small towns’ rapid development andpeople’s living needs.
