With China’s urbanization accelerated at present, municipal transformation andurban construction are common phenomenon in each city. And in pursuit ofgood-looking, a lot of pipes (cable, fiber optic cable, gas pipeline etc) are buriedunderground. During the construction of Chongqing World Financial Center, how toprotect the underground pipelines has become a big problem. In total, there are twoway of pipeline protection: in situ conservation and migration for protection.Suspension pipeline protection system is one way of the former one.Analytic Hierarchy Process has been undertaken to do the program contrast inorder to select the most suitable one for this project, which is suspension pipelineprotection system. In70s of last century, the famous American operations researchexpert, professor T L the Saaty, put forward AHP for the first time, which isparticularly suited to analyze and solve the decision-making problems with largerstructure and less quantifiable objectives or criteria.The suspension bridge has a very long history and has still been widely used inthe large-span structures so far, with reliable technology, economical efficiency, lowcost and attractive appearance. Its mechanical characteristics are: bridge deck loadfirstly transmitted to the main cable by the boom, then to anchorage and the bridgetowers by the main cable. On the basis of relatively mature theoretical research for thesuspension bridge, the suspension system is applied to the underground pipelineprotection project, which forms the suspension pipeline protection system. With thereference of the suspension bridge’s structural system, the suspension pipelineprotection system, in general, is divided into three parts: cables, anchorage system andsteel lattice column. At first, cables are designed based on the suspension bridgedesign method, and then anchorage system and steel lattice column.The construction process is a complex one that both structural system andmechanical patterns are in a non-linear change during the whole construction, Also itis a structural system developing from nothing, from small to large, from simple tocomplex, from local to the whole, from incomplete to complete, above all which is aseries of changing-with-time processes. With the analysis of every parts of thesuspension system and simplification of the boundaries, a finite element model is made using the finite element analysis software ANSYS. In order to demonstrate thecorrectness of the hand-computation, results from ANSYS is used to be comparedwith. To simulate the construction process, it is divided into three conditions. And loadis allocated to the structural system from span to span. Then analysis has been madeunder each condition to ensure the construction safety before the suspension system isformed, providing guiding significance for engineering practice.
