| With the continuous development of modern manufacturing, enterprises makeincreasing demands on manufacturing automation and manufacture informationengineering. In order to master quickly the processing situations, to improve productionefficiency, it is very important to acquire information in workshop. Now, inmanufacturing, the use of CNC machine tools is more and more common. Theacquirement of CNC manufacturing information makes workers and manager master themanufacturing process, provide data for production scheduling, and enhance theeffective control of the manufacturing process and management.The development status and trends of CNC system and CNC informationacquirement technology are discussed in this paper. For SINUMERIC802S base lineCNC system and the characteristics of variety of acquirement methods, this paperpresents a method that the information can be acquired through serial communicationbetween PC and CNC system based on analyzing PPI communication protocol of CNCsystem ’s PLC. Composition of CNC system, relationship between PLC and CNC, serialcommunication and PPI protocol are introduced in detail. CNC ManufacturingInformation is acquired by PLC programming,and this information is stored in the PLCmemory, monitoring the serial port message by Visual Basic when serial communicationhappened between PC and CNC system, these messages are sent to PC. The usefulinformation which available to the user is Arranged through the Visual Basicprogramming.This method does not need to add new hardware, only need add some new PLCprogramming and user-defined CNC M code. The information of spindle working hours,boot time, number of parts processed, progress of manufacture and so on can beacquired with this method. The feasibility can be verified. |
