China is one of the countries in the world that frequently suffer from naturaldisasters, which are charactered by various kinds, high frequency, strong intensity, widedistribution, and geographical differences. In recent years, natural disasters occurfrequently in our country, which has maken a lot of loss to the people physically andmentally, increase social unrest, and damage the natural resources and environment.This objectively requires citizens to improve the awareness of the need of disasterprevention and mitigation education. The publicity of disaster prevention and mitigationthrough school education can be said to be a short cut, It is especially effective inmiddle schools where the students enjoy physical fitness and are sensitivity to thethinking of recognition.This paper first describes the basic theory of the disaster prevention and mitigationeducation in middle school, and further elaborates to strengthen the necessity andimportance of education for disaster prevention in middle school in order to enhance theawareness on the students of disaster prevention and mitigation. Taking Langfangmiddle school’s disaster prevention and mitigation education status quo for an examplein this paper reflect China’s current situation of the middle school’s disasterprevention and mitigation education. Drawn relevant conclusions from questionnairestudy on Langfang high school students and study the experiences and pattern ofimplement of disaster prevention and mitigation education.In Japan, the United States and the United Kingdom’s primary and secondaryschools, based on which our country raise a series of countermeasures and suggestionto strengthen our disaster prevention and mitigation education and recommendations:For one, with its own as a starting point, active in the education of disaster preventionand reduction in the tide of learning the correct self-rescue mutualaid common sense, sets up the correct consciousness on disaster prevention and mitigation;based on familyeducation, highlight the prominent role of parents in the education of the familydisaster prevention and reduction, get rid of thinking of luck and mental laziness,strengthen disaster prevention and mitigation on the students’ education;regard theschool as an effective way of publicity and education, start from basic education,listdisaster prevention and reduction education into the national education system, and afull range of disaster prevention and mitigation education by teachers will effectivelyimprove disaster prevention and mitigation awareness and skills of high school students;with the advocacy role of social media and a wide range of financial support as asupplement,the atmosphere of studying disaster prevention and mitigation of knowledgewill be created in society,and the high school students can be intentionally orunintentionally under the influence of it; Lastly, the government actively constructeffective prevention and mitigation of middle school students education administrativerules and regulations, improving people’s attention.The pattern of disaster preventionand mitigation education will be created as a"Five integrated"of itself, families,schools,social and government which provides a full range of disaster prevention andmitigation education pattern that eeffectively improves the awareness and skills ofmiddle school students and even all the citizens.
