| Supplier Quality Management (SQM) for Multi-national Corporation mainly refers to selection, evaluation and disqualification of supplier, products research and development, sample approval, process controlling and finished goods inspection. As one of the biggest and most famous companies in retailing market all over the world, W Corporation has been suffering the problems from SQE, which mainly lies in Ethical Standard Auditing, Quality System Auditing, products process controlling, ethic and integrity scandal and insufficient response capability of test agent.The effective measures have been identified by analyzing the problems and finding out the root causes:①Restructuring the Auditing Department, creating the new position of Merchandise Quality Engineer(MQE), separating the function of management and implement, that is, final product inspection and factory/supplier auditing are outsourced to the third inspection& auditing service providers which are supervised and coordinated by W Corporation.②Introducing competition system and the quantity of inspection& auditing offered by W Corporation is based on the performance among four or five inspection & testing service providers.③Putting the double sampling plan in use instead of single sampling plan and correcting the unreasonable AQL in function test which has got rise to many controversial issues;④Taking part in the new product design and development at the earlier stage and controlling the production process by MQE to ensure the commodities to meet the need of end-users. Passive inspection is always second to active/positive involvement and control.The benefit from this revolution has been gained by W Corporation within past six months, but Supplier Quality Management is rather complex and keeps changing from time to time. It should be modified with the changing world. |
