Regional economic development is must to a region, it relates the living standard of the people in the region and based by other activities. Endogenous growth and external drive are the two patterns of the development of regional economic. The essence of the external drive is the elements flow from a region to another region.And the diffusion of innovation is a part of the pattern of external drive, but it does not belong to the interregional trade, it is a spillover effect. Innovation plays the important role in promoting the economic growth. If a region don't have the ability to innovate to promote the economic growth, the diffusion of innovation is important to this region. Therefore, to study the diffusion of innovation is a significant mission.This paper includes the following five components:The first part introduces the meaning of the region and the characters of the region. Compare the economic growth to the economic development, analysis their relationship. And introduce the elements of the regional economic growth.The second part, states the two patterns of the regional economic development: endogenous growth and external drive. Interregional trade is a important part of the external drive, and the diffusion of innovation is also. But diffusion of innovation and the interregional trade are independent of each other.The third part introduces the theory of innovation, diffusion and the diffusion of innovation.The fourth part summarizes the research of the diffusion of innovation in these respects: time, homogeneous field, heterogeneous field, mechanism and factors.The fifth part through analyzing the requirement of the diffusion of innovation and the conditions of the region, give some advices to the economic development of the region.
