The agriculture is the national economy foundation. The progress of science and technology motivates the modernization of agriculture. Development of agricultural science and technology plays the key component of agriculture modernization, while in the process of agricultural technology results change into productivity, extension is the bridge. However, comparing with the high speed of agricultural science and technology, the depth and width of our country's agricultural science and technology extension proves seriously backward.Since the age of Reform and opening, we have experienced numerous setbacks and arduous exploration. We have summed develop and research models of our own agricultural science and technology, but compared with developed countries, we still have a long way to catch with no matter in the source of science and technology, or the spread of technology, or the practical application of science and technology, especially in the model"agricultural science and technology extension relaying on university". Therefore, we may learn development experiences modestly from developed countries during our agricultural development.Our country's present agricultural science and technology extension model was established in planning period with government's leading. We have been joined in the WTO for a long age, the model we established previously revealed certain weaknesses and shortcomings, such as inflexible operation mechanism, inefficient agricultural science and technology service, low rate in agricultural science and technology results'changing into productivity, etc., which all hindered the agricultural modernization development process of our country gravely.In the new age, with the foregone experience and lessons we draw from past, we should set research into"the model of agricultural science and technology extension relaying on university"and explore the new agricultural road, which proves suited to our era. First, this article reviewed the present"model of agricultural science and technology extension relaying on university". Second, this article summed the experience of developed countries'agricultural science and technology extension. Then this article analyzed weaknesses and shortcomings of our country's agricultural science and technology extension model combining with the stamp of the age and world agriculture's development tendency. Finally, on the basis of exploration above, this article tries to seek strategies which would be easy to realize the innovation of our country's agricultural science and technology extension model.
