In Chinese countryside, a village is regarded as a basic community, which forms the fundamental political and cultural unit in Chinese rural areas. It is also an economic entity. Therefore, political, socio-cultural as well as economic self-restraints could afford the economic principle change of villages. Among them, it is formal to arrange villages according to the country's political and legal systems and land ownership while it is informal to be influenced by the ideology, ethic and others. Undoubtedly, the economic principle change of villages will be influenced by both formal and informal arrangements systems. Not a single institutional arrangements can promote institutional change occur. Even the use of coercive institutional arrangements can not make this system continue.This paper studies Chinese economic principle change and evolution in the rural villages, modeled on Xiaogang Village in Fengyang County, Anhui Province. It reveals the internal force mechanism and external factors both of which play a role in the change. It also analyses and concludes the basic law on economic principle change of villages so as to lead people in the correct direction of the change and set a prelude to innovating economic principle. In this paper, the content is divided into seven chapters. Chapter one is an introduction which contains significance and purposes, the content and methods, current situation at home and abroad on this issue. Chapter two is on the theoretical base for the changing of economic principles including the principle itself and the formation of it, the type and change of it and the rural economic principle. Chapter three tells the basic situation in Xiaogang Village, such as geographical location, natural resources, the population, market resources, and socio-cultural resources. Chapter four is on the impacts of formal system arrangements from statesmen, political institutions and political elites in the village while chapter five is to show the influence of informal system arrangement on the economic principle change in Xiaogang Village, such as villagers'ideologies, family values and ethic. A further analysis of socio-economic development under the leadership of the government and the difficulties of further economic change can be found in chapter six. The last chapter is the conclusion.
