Study On The Competitiveness Of Sesame Industry Of China

Cooking oil is one of necessities in people's daily life and the oil-bearing crops are an important kind of traditional crops in China. In recent years with the improvement of standard of living the consumption of edible oil is enlarged year by year, as a result, the demand for the oil-bearing crops also increases accordingly. However, many kinds of oil-bearing crops are currently facing the same problem that domestic supplies could not meet demand our country, and we need large-scale imports. Meanwhile, domestic oil market is gradually occupied by the imported oil, which makes the domestic oil processing industry also gradually lose the host.Sesame belongs to the small breed oil crops, but it is also our traditional trade agricultural products, which has a long planting history in our country. But, the same with the whole situation of oil-bearing crops in our country, the trade of the sesame on international markets has been net import from net export now. It has lost the original competitive advantage. Sesame oil crops, as the minor oil-bearing crop doesn't have an obvious status in domestic oil crops. In this case, the sesame industry in China is facing increasingly atrophy situation. Aiming at the problem, this paper calculates the sesame industrial competitiveness of China by empirical methods. It analyzes the reasons for the status of the competitiveness of sesame industry with "diamond model". Finally it puts forward relevant policy Suggestions.This research can be divided into six parts. The first part describes research backgrounds, the meaning of this research, review of literature and technique routes. The second part summarizes general situations and development trends of current sesame industry. The third part introduces some methods that can be used to measure sesame industry competitiveness of our country. The forth part measures sesame industry competitiveness of our country by adopting the above four methods. The fifth part analyzes reasons for the conclusion of the forth part by adopting Michael Porter's "Diamond Model". The last part proposes targeted policy suggestions to develop sesame industry of our country in the basis of previous analyses.The conclusions are mainly embodied in the following four aspects:1. China is still playing the important role in the world sesame industry, especially in the yield level, harvested area. However, In the trade, China has transformed by sesame net exporter from net-importer.2. The analysis results shows that the sesame industry's international competitiveness of China are falling, it has not with international competitive advantage.3. According to potter's "diamond model" theoretical, the sesame industry development in China has very good resources endowment base, But the new features of international industry competition gradually weakening the influence of the resources endowment base. 4. For sesame products, both the domestic and international market has tremendous demands. Once we can make up these deficiencies, China will regain the dominance in the sesame industry.
