The Research On The Competitiveness Of Equipment Manufacturing Industry And The Influence Factors In Hunan Province

Equipment manufacturing industry is a pillar industry of the national economy, which provides high-end technology and equipment to other industries. It is also an important symbol to measure the comprehensive competitiveness of a country or region. The international industrial competitiveness is based on the regional industrial competitiveness, and the development of the regional equipment manufacturing industry has a significant effect on the development of the regional economic, so the competition between each province is more interser. After the government established equipment manufacturing industry in national strategic industry and equipment manufacturing industry was invigorated between 2006 and 2010, the need to research the domestic regional equipment manufacturing industry competitiveness became more actual. In recent years, the industry in Hunan is developing quickly, especially equipment manufacturing industry such as engineering machinery plays an important role, but it is undeniable that there is still a gap between Hunan province and the eastern coastal provinces in China on equipment manufacturing industry, and equipment manufacturing industry competitiveness of Hunan is in the medium level in the six provinces in central region of China, the industry drive ability is not enough. Therefore, study the situation and the influence factors of equipment manufacturing industry competitiveness in Hunan province, then give some advise to improve the equipment manufacturing competitiveness of Hunan has important theoretical and practical significance, which means for the development of the economic of Hunan and the rise of the central region of China.Firstly, we analyze the connotation and forming mechanism of the industrial competitiveness, and introduce the theoretical basis of the industrial competitiveness and the theory model of the influence factors of the industrial competitiveness in this paper. Then this paper analyze the situation of the equipment manufacturing industry competitiveness and its sub-sectors in Hunan province, and compared with other provinces, we can draw a conclusion that the development of the sub-sectors in the equipment manufacturing industry in Hunan province is not balance, Special equipment manufacturing industry and transportation equipment manufacturing industry play an important role. But the overall equipment manufacturing industry competitiveness is poor, there is still a gap between Hunan province and the eastern coastal provinces in China, the industry drive ability in the six provinces in central region of China is not enough. After that, with the help of Diamond model, Porter--Dunning model, five factors model, and combining the characteristics of the equipment manufacturing industry, we get the theoretical framework about the influence factors of the equipment manufacturing industry competitiveness, which include the financing ability, the technical innovation, the industrial organization structure, industrial supporting ability and the function of government. Based on the theoretical framework, and with the help of multiple regression analysis and the panel data of equipment manufacturing industry in Hunan province between 2001 and 2008, we can establish the econometric model by analysing the results and testing the correctness of the selected factors, and kown that: fixed asset investment, R&D personnel investment, enterprise average value and industrial concentration degree play a positive role to the equipment manufacturing industry competitiveness of Hunan, and the influence of R&D investment funds in Hunan province is the role of the equipment manufacturing industry competitiveness without proven, which expose R&D expenditure is short in the equipment manufacturing industry in Hunan province. At last, according to the conclusion before, we give some advises about how to improve the equipment manufacturing industry competitiveness in Hunan province.
