The rapid development of information technology has promoted the transformation of enterprise management mode and manufacturing technology and it also further accelerates global manufacturing restructure and integration, resulting in more intensive competition among enterprises. Industrialization driven by information technology has become a self-motivated pursuit and action of many enterprises especially small and medium sized enterprises in China.ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) is a sharp tool for enterprises in meeting the market challenges in the information era, by providing a management platform to both management and its employees for their reasonable decision making process on which the cashflow, material flow, information flow and HR flow are integrated by systematic management. For the purpose of increasing its core business competitiveness through improved management, OST implemented and adopted ERP system by integrating ERP with its industrial features and enterprise practice.Based on the OST ERP project, this thesis firstly makes an analysis of information system and ERP system application status, fully deals with ERP system principles in attempt to provide theoretical basis for further studies. In the end, this thesis makes demand analysis on ERP system construction by integrating OST's company practice, setting out the general system goal and implementation framework. Some key areas for implementation of ERP are studied as well.The demands of OST on ERP, pitfalls and experience in implementation of ERP from OST are general to small and medium sized companies in China. So the studies done in this thesis are expected to be of reference value to other similar enterprises.
