With the development of computer technology, the embedded system has becomeincreasingly complex, challenges faced by developers become more severe. The laggingmethod of development can not meet the requirements of timeliness, reliability and goodhuman-machine interface of the modern embedded technology. With the increasingcomplexity, the traditional text-based programming tools are difficult to reduce thecomplexity of programming. New methods are needed for the area of embedded technologyto deal with all these challenges.Virtual instrument takes the computer as the core hardware platform; integrates thehardware resources of the computer and the instrument by software; uses the powerfulgraphical interfaces and data processing capabilities of computer to realize the analysis,operation and processing of the signal data; produces new instruments with basic traditionalfunctions and new special features. For embedded systems, the virtual instrument technologyreduces the requirement in each step of the design process for engineers and scientists, bysimplifying the complexities of the embedded programming. For engineers and scientists,virtual instrument provides an easy way from the design, prototype to deployment.Software development is the core in the design and implementation of virtual instrument.LabVIEW is a kind of easy, simple, flexible and powerful software for the virtual instrumentdevelopment. Since the first release of LabVIEW in1986, in all areas related to dataacquisition and control field, the LabVIEW graphical programming language has become thestandard development tools. In the development of embedded systems, LabVIEW has begunto simplify the complexity of the system; provides acquisition, analysis and display functionson the same platform; allows the reuse of hardware and software in design and testing process;avoids the difficulties of the work and repetitive labor caused by the different tools used in thethree steps: design prototype and deployment.This paper studies several kinds of practical programming technologies of LabVIEW inengineering applications; uses the method of modules; brings in the LabVIEW graphicalprogramming language for the development of embedded systems; describes the design andimplementation of the Multi-Channel DataAcquisition System based on LabVIEW.
