With the fast development of city information constructing, the requirement for the technology of local network is increasing. Local network need to carry more kinds of business, answer more business dispatch and fit for more changes of bit stream. Different business ask for different network status, so the requirement for transportation of local network is more strict.Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) is a new standard for second layer connecting of local network. It integrate the high efficiency of Ethernet and reliability of SDH/SONET, based on Packet Network, which is a new trend for next generation local network and convenient to reach optical network.
