With the increasing of business competition, how to manage information in a quick and accurate way is becoming more and more important. Production management occupies an important position in the manufacturing enterprises, and the development of production management information system has become a major issue of the enterprise information technology.This paper uses the background of Yunnan Farm Tropical Crops Machinery Company, Ltd. to do research of the development of Production Management Information System (RJPMIS). This paper analyzes the status of the company's production management and makes a detail analysis of the company's organizational structure, business processes and related management activities. On this basis, the paper gives the system's overall design, database design and system detailed design. This paper departs the RJPMIS into5subsystems:basic data management, production planning and controlling management, materials management, working center and process route management, system management. For each subsystem, this paper makes a detail design of function modules. The design of database system is in the process of the requirements analysis, conceptual design and logical design. Supported by the data management activities, the paper uses25data table and designs3databases, which are underlying database, production database and system database. The design of database analyzes the BOM table data structures and builds the structure of materials list and parts list using two BOM structures. It meets the system design requirements very well. This paper's conclusion can be an important reference to other machinery manufacturing enterprises in the development of production management information system.
