With the various demands of customers and unpredictable business environment, a dynamic and efficient information system needs to be constructed in modern enterprises urgently, which can react rapidly and deal with the problems with respect to management and flexibility in manufacturing. One important way to construct this kind of rapid-reaction system is implementing ERP.In this paper, the application of ERP system for a decelerator enterprise was investigated on the basis of product data model, in order to solve the problems with respect to various types of product,strict delivery requirement and a wide range of orders. The following aspects have been involved in the investigation.(1) This paper analyzed the operation of small and medium manufacturing enterprise of Make-to-Order, defined the operating environment and function of ERP system, and constructed the configuration of distributed ERP system and that of workshop level for decelerator enterprise. Based on the above, the paper also presented characteristics of order and product, then constructed the data model of product.(2) Characteristics of decelerator manufacturing enterprise of Make-to-Order was analyzed in this paper. Fundamental processes of the enterprise were studied and improved according to the order. Then the paper discussed implementation of the ERP system and relevant details about its function.(3)The paper investigated the reconfigurable characteristics of ERP system of decelerator enterprise and proposed a method for workflow management which is based on the data model of product. In addition, the paper discussed ways of reconfiguring workflows.
