As the first TV talk show in the form of debate in Chinese mainland,"Tell it like it is", which was broadcast in1996, brought inland TV talk shows to the stage of carnival of pluralistic discourse. Then, TV talk shows of debates gradually thrived in the major television stations, and had shown good momentum of vigorous development. The programme producers went on making innovations and breakthroughs in its content and form in order to provide a multi-discourse platform for the general public. The present TV talk shows of debates take advantage of the merits of new media such as mobile phones and Tianya web community. With these media's intuition, instant reaction and interaction, these programmes present the audience with the game of the elite, the general public as well as civilians'discourse. The paper will analyze the programme "Oriental Live Studio" and describe in detail the current development and propagation characteristics. This paper will use the theory of Public Sphere which was raised by Habermas from aspects of programme elements, the discourse of programmes and programme formats to analyze TV talk shows of debates in-depth and how to construct a pluralistic public discourse space as well as what extent the equality and openness of discourse reaches. Although TV talk shows of debates have made some progress in the past10years, many flaws and shortcomings still exist in the process of development. The fourth part of this paper is based on discourse theory of Foucault and Bourdieu's field theory to discuss the unconscious control and influence met by discourse expressing from the perspectives of political power, economic power and social interaction under the present system. Affected by many factors from within, some TV talk shows of debates still have to face certain problems such as existing controlled discourse, lack of personality and authenticity, ineffective debate. There is still a long distance away from the ideal public discourse space. The last part of this paper discusses how to overcome those obstacles and construct a real, equal and diverse public discourse space in modern society where audiences have strong desire to express their feelings and participate in public affairs.
