1911Revolution is an important event in modern Chinese history and its centennial just falls on the year of2011. Obviously, the related celebrations have become the most important cross-strait cultural and political event and successfully attracted the attention of media. In this context, the author has selected405texts concerning Centennial of1911Revolution from six newspapers in Taiwan and mainland in2011, investigated and compared the media frame on "Centennial of1911Revolution". Combined with content analysis and text analysis, the author first launched quantitative statistics proceeding from time, layout, news style, length, news source and theme of the texts, presented the structures of six reports on Centennial of1911Revolution macroscopically, selected typical articles from three news styles, namely commentary, news and supplement, thoroughly investigated different effects of these news reports, and summarized the tendencies of media frame on Centennial of1911Revolution. It is found that People's Daily was oriented by political propaganda, presenting a political framework of national revival based on commentary and supported by news and supplement. It seems that United Daily was less concerned about1911Revolution compared with People's Daily. In short memorial texts, it adopted the forms of news and commentary, highlighting political significance of1991Revolution. Under the premise of national revival, it emphasized democratic constitutionalism. With historical data, Southern Weekend attempted to restore the historical truth and set up a platform for academic discussion, revealing the frame of historical truth. As for Metropolis Daily, it took the form of historical stories, giving readers a complex and contradictory frame. Then the author started with social context and media attributes, discussed the causes for the differences in media frames. Finally, the author analyzed four important factors influencing the communicating effect of media practice, and discussed weakness and possibility of mass media in playing the function of social conformity through commemorating historic event.
