With the rapid development of information technology, now the traditional Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) can not meet the increasing demand of integrated data carrying such as data integrated text, voice, video and other datum. So the major telecom operators have proposed a construction of dual-plane backbone IP network development strategies and hastened it integrate to IP MAN while speeding the construction of IP MAN. IP MAN is an integrated multi-service bearer network; the technology used in IP MAN will affect the quality of service directly to broadband users, so will also affect the development of business to telecom operators.By study on current status of Hunan Mobile data bearer network and considere new data service businesses would be carried, a principle is supposed to follow that network should be clear in hierarchy, flat in network architecture, can provide differentiated services and can be centralized management. Follow the principle a construction Idea of Hunan Mobile IP MAN has been proposed in this paper. Applying the idea, with focusing study on network structure of IP MAN and mode of device interconnect, a new project of MAN for Hunan Mobile has been proposed. According to this project, an IP MAN has been built in Hunan Mobile Zhuzhou Branch.In order to promote the overall performance of Hunan Mobile MAN, this paper has focused on the application of many new technologies during network design. QinQ is used to obtain more amount of VLAN, the inner and outer label of VLAN is used to distinguish user and the feature of business respectively, so user identification and positioning has been achieved in this MAN; it helps telecom operators to implement fine operation. Because of the advantages of can long distance transmission, have high bandwidth and large access capacity, Passive Optical Network (PON) technology has used to simplify the network structure, save engine room space, and implement broadband accessing in Access Network.By research on this project, the goal of user identification, business distinguishing, quality control and network management has been accomplished in the MAN been constructed; so the research is valuable to MAN construction practice.
