Satellite navigation system develops very rapidly, there are a wide range of applications in civilian and military. Many countries start to research and develop their own satellite navigation system. Beidou navigation system is still under construction. The research of navigation technology is very urgent. So the core technology of GPS receiver is researched in this paper, the whole hardware system and the baseband signal processing algorithm are researched.First, the whole GPS receiver system and principle is introduced in this paper. The whole hardware system is composed of RF front-end, correlator and DSP. The RF front-end is used to down the frequency of navigation signal, baseband signal processing is done by the correlator and DSP, The software is implemented in the DSP.The baseband signal is processed by software, include navigation signal acquisition, acquisition confirm, pull-in, navigation signal track and other algorithms. In this paper, the acquisition algorithm is serial searching, it is simple to realize. After capturing the navigation signal, we should need to confirm if the navigation signal is really exist. If it is confirmed, we need to pull-in the frequency error and chip error. After pull-in the navigation signal, we should keep tracking the navigation signal, so we can do bit synchronization and frame synchronization. When we keep tracking the navigation signal, we should to judge if the navigation signal is locked. The effect of coherent integration time and loop bandwidth on the acquisition and tracking performance are analyzedAt the end of this paper is the result of debugging the whole hardware system and software system. The inadequate of the design and follow-up work are proposed at the end of this paper.
