The social informatization and the multimedia technology develop rapidly today. Because of the data of multimedia information is very large, it is urgently needed the support of advanced digital signal processing technology and the transmission technology. A network video transmission system mainly consists of video capture module, video codec module, and network communication module. The video transmission system constantly upgrades based on the comprehensive application of various advanced technology, with the rapid development of video codec, embedded technology and network technology. The way of video transmitted by the network is more and more in-depth applied to various fields of civil, industrial, and military, the technology of network video transmission has been a lot of attention.The network video transmission system with efficient video codec is designed in this dissertation. Its hardware based on the multimedia processor i.MX27 of Freescale, software based on embedded Linux operating system, and the function of the network video transmission system can be achieved.Based on the research of the related technology of the network video transmission system and the mainstream framework, the overall hardware design is put forward. According to the overall design of each module, it has been researched specific on each module in function and the chip selection, including the power modules and reset module, storage module, video module, audio module, network communication module, etc. Studied and analyzed the feature, functions and pins of the chips, and completed the schematic design of the system. Taking into account the requirements of high-speed circuit design, this dissertation analyzed and summarized the approach to signal integrity, summed up the circuit design layout and routing strategies, and completed the PCB layout design.The dissertation has completed the circuit testing and drivers debugging, realized the video transmission function on network, and the system was running well, it has achieved the expected goal.
