Virtual Desktop Management Applications

The rise of cloud computing drives the rapid development of the virtualization in computer. Server virtualization and storage virtualization technology have been researched in depth by IT expert and are widely used. Desktop virtualization will be the next fast-growing "virtual" market, and most promising applications technology.Virtual desktop is based on server virtualization and share virtual desktop infrastructure in the data center, which support many virtual machines for desktop environment. Virtual desktop improve the security and flexibility of using computer desktop. Today, users want consistent, and secure access to the applications and systems they need to do their job from anywhere and on multiple devices. Factors that affect the development of virtual desktop in cloud not only VM, intelligent terminal and efficient desktop transport protocol but also the rapid deployment, convenient maintenance and centralized management.In this dissertation, I analyze the key technology on virtual desktop and VDI, summarize the main factors that impact the deployment and use of virtual desktop, and research associated solution strategies. Then I design and implement the management platform of virtual desktop(VDMP),based on using and research on XenDesktop and VMware View, considering customer's habit of using virtual desktop. It includes desktop management, monitoring and performance analysis. Desktop management helps virtual desktop administrator maintain consumers'desktop directly calling API on virtualization platform. Monitoring will be monitoring the real-time data of the performance of desktop, tracking the associated virtual machine and hosted physical machine, send alerts according to the default performance parameter in order to help managers get rid of desktop trouble in best times, that ensure customer's natural work. Performance analysis will process data collected, using K-means clustering and neural networks to establish the objective function. According to different categories of resources, the virtual desktop administrators allocate customer's virtual desktop deployment to the appropriate host physical machine, to avoid waste of resources or cause physical bottlenecks.
