With the high-speed development of network technology and the rapid advance of the enterprise networking, the demand from enterprise customers on network equipments is enhancing year by year, and the requirement is also increasing unceasingly. As main network equipments, the data communication equipments are developing and updating continuously. It has been developed from the original small equipments into the current centralized equipments, then into the large distributed equipments. The reliability of the equipments is becoming higher and higher. The function and performance of them are becoming more and more powerful. Consequently, it is urgent to develop a new set of professional operation and management system. Moreover, with the enhancing diversity and complexity of the data communication equipments, the configuration and management for the equipments become more and more complicated. It has been developed from the original single user login and serial port management to the present diversified way of login, such as physical serial port login and remote login. Multi-user coordinative management requests higher and better configuration and management framwork for the equipments.According to these requirements, the thesis is making some related work on terminal login, configuration and management based on the distributed data communication equipments. It offers a variety of login ways for equipment administrators, and provides a set of configuration and management framework of the equipments for the users who log on the equipments. The thesis also does some friendly work about interaction and coordination for multiple users to log on, configure and manage the equipments. This thesis is organized as following three parts:First, the TTY mechanism and PTY mechanism of Linux are introduced. Using these mechanisms, the logins are accomplished on the centralized data communication equipments through the physical terminal or the virtual terminal such as the remote service, which would be the basis for the whole system. Then, on the distributed data communication equipments, a new method of interboard communication is proposed by making use of developped protocol SysIPC and internal Telnet, which realizes the login of the physical terminal on the backup board of the distributed equipments. Finally, the paper proposes and solves several problems which may occur when multiple users login, configure or manage the equipments simultaneously. The thesis also provides some configuration commands for the users'interaction and coordination, which make multiple users configuring and managing the equipments more coordinately. The result of test running of the whole system shows that the functional modules provided by this thesis can accomplish all kinds of terminals'login, configuration and management greatly on both the centralized data communication equipments and the distributed data communication equipments. The operation is simple. The interface is friendly. The function is accomplished.Currently, this software system has been officially loaded into the products of a large domestic supplier of data communication equipments, and the products have been put into actual production and sales.
