In recent years,there are so many natural disasters in the world.Portable satellitecommunication earth station system, which has flexible network,high reliability,lowquality working environment , rapidly response to accomplish data transmission andreal-time video broadcast, has been used increasingly wide.Meanwhile,as "the braincommander",the design and research of MAC(Monitor alarm and control) seemsextremely important.In another word, the direction of development of MAC isequivalent to the development of earth station.Under the environment of wireless local area network, we create the MACsubsystem based on C/S model and TCP/IP protocol using Socket .The developmentof remote monitor and control system based on Socket and multi-thread technology isdescribed in detail. The scheme of the system is introduced and a LAN based systemis realized in JBuilder environment. Socket, a popular network communicationAPI(application program interface), can achieve data transmissions conveniently onLAN. Based on the multi-thread configuration,we can achieve the disposition ofcoding,decoding and data transmission simultaneously to improve the data efficiency.To guide the user to accomplish the whole seeking progress of the portablesatellite communication earth station system, simple and visual user interface is themain purpose of MAC subsystem. The controlled equipment includes antenna controlsubsystem and satellite modem.And the core function consists of parameters setting,manual and automatic to the satellite, antenna status checking, antenna statusself-testing, remote monitoring of the satellite modem and system log viewing,etc.The software has undergone repeatedly rigid software test to ensure its stabilityand reliability, and is human friendly. Now, the software has been released forcommercial use.
