Satellite communication earth station relys on radio waves to work and needs to achieve the radiation and reception of radio waves. The device that radiates and receives radio waves is known as "antenna". The performance of a satellite communication earth station antenna, to a large extent, determines the satellite communication earth station communication quality. Antenna is an extremely important part of satellite communication earth station.From the process of the communication system information transmission, it can be seen that the antenna accomplish the conversion between guided -wave (or high-frequency current) and the space wave energy. In order to effectively accomplish this energy conversion, a good antenna is required to be the "electromagnetic open systems", and match its source or load. Secondly, in order to use information energy effectively and assure the quality of information transmission, the transmitting antenna is required to radiate electromagnetic waves in the desired direction as much as possible and the receiving antenna is required to receive the specified direction of the incoming wave and minimize the interference and noise of the other directions. The antenna property that radio wave energy radiation or reception relates to the direction is called the antenna directivity. In addition, the antenna should be able to transmit or receive pre-polarized electromagnetic waves and ensure certain polarization isolation; moreover, there is sufficient operating frequency range. So we need the antenna test to get all aspects of the antenna characteristics, in order to evaluate the performance of an antenna.Based on the development experience of actual participation in satellite communication earth station antenna test system and combined in the test of satellite communication earth station a laboratory, This thesis thoroughly introduces this system from design scheme, test equipment, PC-side control software, and practical application, etc. The design scheme is based on the original antenna test method, aiming at the improvements for the actual test. Testing scheme proposes to make full use of the spectrum analyzer programmable interface, be controled by the PC software, in order to make data acquisition synchronized, and complete the performance analysis of the antenna only on the PC side. Eventually being used in actual testing, the whole system will be debugged and improved.
