Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are infrastructureless self-organizing wireless networks. Each node can be mobile and has routing capabilities to be able to forward packets on behalf of other nodes. Recently, because of the rising popularity of multimedia applications and potential commercial usage of MANETs, QoS support in Multipath Routing Protocol has become an unavoidable task.Due to the bandwidth constraint and dynamic topology of Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANET), supporting Quality of Service (QoS) in MANETs is a challenging task. In this paper, network quality of service (QoS) in depth research on the traditional routing protocols depth exploration of the existing routing protocols for comparative analysis, and specific routing protocols for both DSR routing protocols and routing protocols to improve DYMO so were able to meet the Ad hoc network quality of service requirements.A lot of research has been done on supporting QoS in the Internet and other network architectures, but most of them are not suitable in the MANET environment. In this paper, firstly we review the content related with QoS, secondly we describe the existed QoS model,IntServ and DiffServ in Internet, and then we review the current research on QoS support in MANETs, which includes QoS resource reservation signaling, QoS routing, and QoS Medium Access Control (MAC),and we also analyze the current QoS model. At last, we propose a differentiated service architecture for MANETs which changes some parts in Diffserv to make it perfect with the characteristics of MANETs. The performance of the proposed architecture is evaluated by NS simulations. Preliminary simulation results show that the proposed architecture can provide better services for higher prioritized traffic by degrading the qualities of lower prioritized traffic when the network resources are insufficient.
