In the nowadays when the industrial automation control technology has a very fast development,in the every step of manufactrue,machining,measurementand detection,it has been go to high automation. in the plate palnts at home and abroad,it has used a lot of automation facilities,which used for controling and detecting the plate, including the radial thickness tester near the rolling machine.For the automatic thickness measurement of the finished plate,for the past many years,although many research organization have done a lot job, beacuase the terrible environment in the rolling line,the high mesurement precision requirement,and also the difficult of the technics set,there was not a successful application. However,the radial thickness tester has been used in plate plants abroad, this solution up against a situation that large facility,expensive cost(about more than 3,000,000 YUAN),difficult to maintenance and so on, so in many plants,they get a sample measurement by manual with a micrometer.In view of the case that there is no refined technology used for thickness measurement of the finished plates,this subject do a innovative research to counter automatic thickness measurement technology of the finished plates in rolling palant in JiGang group,designed the plate thickness automatic measurement system for medial plate plant, to achieved the automation control in the measurement process,get the thickness of the plate in the realtime,record the measurement dada, and also support many displayer functions.In this paper,the embeded control system for thickness automatic measurement including the data collection of the displacement sensor,pneumatic unit control,embeded controller,the data transfer of the HMI machine, HMI design and development.Displacement sensor:used a linear magnetostriction sensor,via ProfiBus transfered the data to signal collection card of the embeded control system.Pneumatic control unit:the main action of the this unit is the moving control of the mechnical parts of thickness measurement machine,including go ahead and back off action of the machine,up and down moving of measurement arms. Embeded controller.this controller used a hardware platform with PC 104 struction,based on Windows CE OS,to achieve the data collection of the displacement sensor,the commands output of Pneumatic control unit,the graphics control in thickness measurement machine testing,the logic control of the machine,and also do the communication job via ethernet between the machine and HMI computer, the controller support operation from the panel,with a 2 X 7 matrix keyboard,5 inch LCD displayer,operator can set the parameters of the machine use a PS/2 keyboard.The data transform in HMI computer:The data transform use industrial ethernet,based on TCP/IP protocol.HMI design and development:HMI design and development based on the microsoft's Visual C++6.0 development platfonm,has data displaying,data storage,and also drive the LED screen functions.The design for system optimization:the major optimization job is to counter the power consumption and system stablity, used LCD sleep to put down the power consumption,used a advanced programming method which call status table moving logic control to to strengthen the stablity of the system,avoid the abnormity occured.The main innovation point of this subject including:1. The first time which magnetostriction sensor used in the plate thickness measurement system;2. The embeded controller in Industrial;3. Via industial ethernet bus technology,achieved the communication of the HMI computer and plate thickness measurement machine.
