With the continuous improvement of people's living level and development of vehicle industry, the convenient and mature cars are greatly needed. Electronic system on car which integrates the technology of computer multimedia, mobile communication, GPS and network technology together has great market value.This thesis is based on the mature GPS and GSM technology and guided by the embedded system theory. Finally it has realized a consummate embedded vehicle system. The basic theory of embedded system including the conception, characteristic and composing is also explained. The vehicle system is mainly researched and exploited with the popular WinCE OS.The major job presented in this paper focuses on realizing a GPS navigation system on vehicle. The hardware platform is based on the Intel PXA255 embedded microprocessor and its embedded OS is Microsoft Windows CE. In the hardware design of the embedded system, the paper introduces the selection of the core processor, and discusses on the design and implementation of the storage device, communication interface, man-machine interface and so on. In the part of system migration and driver development, the Windows CE's architecture and driver model is deeply studied. Then the driver model of Micro-Control Unit, keyboard, radio is designed and the rull of communication between the PXA255and Micro-Control Unit is defined. Also the related files and environment variables are configured. WinCE OS customization is complished in the PB environment.
