Of Library And Information Disciplinary Research Trend Visualization

The rapid development of information technology has brought the opportunities andchallenges for library and information science. The library and information science researchfocus from simple literature management to knowledge management and informationmanagement. It is necessary to discipline a empirical analysis on the library and informationscience in order to better understand and grasp the research situation and paradigm shift. Inaddition, the study of research can take discipline research topic and reveal the law ofdevelopment and future subject evolution trend.Visualization analysis takes the computer science and information science etc as the tool,by combing citation analysis, co-words analysis and social network analysis to showdiscipline research process. On the basis of the relative studies home and abroad, withco-words analysis and social network analysis, using visual tools, this paper reveal thedevelopment trend about the library and information science in both of subject knowledgegroup of distribution and network internal structure. The aim of this paper is to show theimplicit knowledge relation by mapping the network of the library and information science.First, the paper has made a keyword co-occurrence matrix which chosen from eight corejournals of the library and information science and determined the high frequency keywordsrange. Then, using clustering method and strategic diagram, we get15main knowledge group:information resources management of the digital library, Visual Analysis, enterpriseknowledge management, service quality evaluation in the library, Subject retrieval andinformation organization, e-business and data mining, information literacy education,personalized service, public library construction, readers, resource sharing, local literatureresources construction, library consortia, intellectual property, open access.Then on the basis of key words' co-words matrix, we use point's degree analysis whichis a index of social network analysis, it obtains5hot words that had control ability and coreposition in the network of library and information science. The five words are universitylibrary, digital library, public library, knowledge management, information service. Also,using the index of network' density, it show that the network of library and informationscience meet 'small word' model. At last, by using ucinet software to overall the network, weget the inner relation from the network structure of library and information science that aretwo basic patterns: information analysis and knowledge service.Finally, we summarize the study' finding and discuss the further research about this problem for the future.
