Bibliometric Study Of Library And Information Science In China Based On Social Network Analysis

The rapid development of information technology, the further diversification of information resource types, the complexity and specialization of the users’ information demands, has brought new challenges to the Library and Information Services and also provide a variety of development opportunities. It’s of significance for future development of Chinese Library and Information Science Research to have an accurate mastery of the subject structure. Social network analysis (SNA) is a method that views the relationships between individuals and organizations as a visual network, and reveals the structural properties of a network through graph theory, mathematical models and software analysis based on network data. The study of social network analysis is a network which contains nodes and connections, not only gets the visual result, while also provides a variety of indicators to reveal the characteristics of nodes and relationships.This paper takes knowledge network of the library science and information science as research subject, reveals the subject structure use social network analysis. In this study, present research situation of home and abroad is analyzed at first. The framework and process that social network analysis applyed in bibliometric study research are proposed. (1) The main research topics of subjects are analyzed based on co-word network. The research hots and subjects are described through drewing the co-word network mapping of library science. (2) The present situation and potential cooperation of subjects is investigated based on collaboration network. On the one hand, the potential cooperation teams in information science are explored by drawing co-author network, and the authors of the same subject and find the potential partners are identified by drawing 2-mode network. On the other hand, the current situation of research institutions cooperation is explored by drawing co-institution network, and the main research filed of the research institutions and the main research units of the scientific subject are identified by drawing 2-mode network. (3) The development grain of the subject research hots are analyzed based on citation network. The method is given and a case analysis of the h-index development grain is studied.
