With the rapid development of Internet technology and the wide application of multimedia technology, streaming media has greatly improved people's experience of network application service. Real-time streaming transmission technology has got rid of the form of traditional Internet transmission which performs too singlely, and it gathers audio, video and graphics and other multimedia information together,that makes it become the major solution of online real-time video transmission, therefore research on stream media transmission technology, has become the hotspot of the current video image processing field.Firstly, this paper systematically has collated and summarized the basic knowledge of streaming media,and introduced the current mainstream file formats of streaming media, major streaming media technologies,several streaming media transmission protocols. At the same time, Further discuss on the principle and the key technology of streaming media transmission has been done, moreover the paper has researched the way of transmission of streaming media and the procedure of streaming media transmission, and has made a systematic analysis and comparison.Secondly, this article system has elaborated the network congestion and the method of congestion control systematicly,also has studied and discussed various control mechanisms of streaming media congestion in depth, besides, the paper has put forward the improved algorithm in TCP friendly rate control on the basis of TFRC algorithm, and has verified the correctness and completeness of the improved algorithm by the means of mathematical proof, in addition,relevant simulation experiment and data acquisition have accomplished through NS2 simulation software.By means of the analysis and summarizations of the experimental results, the improved TFRC algorithm is able to balance and adjust transmission rate of sending end dynamicly, that is not susceptible to the impact of network congestion and fluctuations, so as to ensure the smooth sending rate,moreover it performs friendly to the transmission of the streaming media data, thus ensure the QoS of real-time transmission of streaming media.
