With the development of technology, optical polarization technique has been widely used in electronics, materials, chemical, biological and pharmaceutical fields. Especially in optical fiber communications, polarization modulation is almost as important information carriers. Polarization technique to in-depth research, we must understand the polarization properties of the beam. Polarization property of the beam is the beam polarization state. The most common mathematical description of the beam polarization is Stokes vector method. In optical fiber communication, the solution to optical fiber polarization Stokes parameters is the demodulation process for loading data. How to real-time, quickly and accurately solve the Stokes parameters, is the important research topics in the field of optical fiber communications.Fisrtly, this thesis outlines the basic knowledge of polarized light and Stokes vectors, and the overview of current reseach and development in polarization measurement.Secondly, this thesis describes four ways for the mathematical description of polarized light:electric vector representation, Jones vector representation, and Stokes vector representation of Poincare graphic method. The Stokes vector representation and the Mueller matrix optical components for the system design are highlighted.Again, this thesis presents a polarized Stokes parameters of division-of-amplitude measurement system design. The operation principle is theoretical analyzied. According to the design, the optical components are selected and numerically simulated. The optical path of the system and the package structure are designed. Then, the polarization detection module is completed.Finally, the experimental system for Stokes parameters measurement is setup. Experimental results show that the design of this divison-of-ampiltude measurement system can work well.
