Ethylene is the most important basic material of petrochemical industry. A national ethylene industry level of development, has become the important sign of the level of national petrochemical industry. Now, the new generation of distributed control system has been covering the entire ethylene production process, from the top of the operating management, to the middle of the operation management, to production control at the bottom of the layer and the scene of the instrument, this system has provided enterprises with an integrated information platform. This article relies on business cooperation projects, takes ethylene production line as the research and design objects, analyzes ethylene production technology and the characteristics of control system, combining the actual process and the design requirements of the owner, studies and designs ethylene rectification section process control system based on Siemens SIMATIC PCS7 system.As the new generation of distributed control system, SIMATIC PCS7 uses the TIA (Totally Integrated Automation) concept. PCS7 is a standardized control system can be used in many industrial fields. It is the core component of TIA, and accomplishes the uniform automation platform meeting customer's requirements for all the fields of production,process and integrated industry. PCS7 is composed of multi-user HMI system,client/server system, network communication system, automation system and so on. It is used in process industriy, manufacturing and mixed industry by data management, communication and configuration functions.This article firstly analyzes the ethylene production process, combining design requirements and control method of control system, based on PCS7, does hardware configuration for ethylene control system. And the system not only ensures the real-time and accuracy, but also adopts the redundancy technique in network design and uses the technology of Profibus-DP. Secondly, the control schemes of the control system are researched and configured with CFC. Finally, the operation and monitoring system is designed and configured by using WinCC.
