With industrialization process rapidly speeding up in our country and the dramatically growing of demands about mine development, people pay more attention to reasonably explore and effectively harness mine resource, so it is priporty to research the digitalization and informationization for mine rescorce. Data information has qualities as follows: complexity, vartness, and heterogeneity, and uncertainty, dynamic nature, multi-source, multi-precision, multi-temporal and multi-scales. Lots of scholars and eneginers have been devoting themselves to the research in relevant fields, and have gained some remarkable results. As result of the casualness to explore, especially methods of variable and complex nature, there are still issues existing in the management of mine production data, including diverse different data formats, confusing mine maps and other difficulties. To solve these problems above, it is discussed to design and implentment database based on metal mine production data. The main contents of research are as follows:1) The overall framework and functions, taking advantage of database design methodology and mine geographic information systems (MGIS) design principles, is analyzed for metal mine production information systems. The aim of this system is to manage metal mine database effectively and cater for the mine production needs.2) On the basis of cognizing and acquiring of mine production data and theirs characteristics,emphasized the class of data, the standardization of data model for metal mine production data, abstracted from real world, is brought forward to manage mine information.3) With the kownledge of database technology, integrated with features of metal mine data, the goal, principles and advantages of design are respectively discussed and the process and steps of building database are depicted in detail. Taking the SQL Server 2000 as database platform, with accessing technique of database ADO (ActiveX Date Object) connecting database and application program, function module of database was established.4) According to the productive demands of metal mine enterprise,accounted for the time of developing system ,the fuction of topological information and the ore mine topology analysis, with multi-disciplinary knowledge, are studied and developed, which lay a foundation for developing MGIS in the future.Although the building of database and this system are developed based on Xiaotieshan mine, the other characteristics of mine data are considered, for example, the data form Wulong golden mine have been input, and system runs well.Therefore the research has definite universality and popularizing value.
