Electronic design automation (EDA) as an important design tool has been widely used in simulation, circuit system and physic due to popularization of computer applications and development of intelligent and integrated circuit (IC) technology. Moreover, EDA technique application in physic was cooperating achieved by software and hardware via combining EDA technique with acquisition and test of pulse signal, developing and applying based on CPLD/FPDA, leads to more extensive EDA applications in physic. In this study, hardware and software design of pulse test measurement system were accomplished. For the hardware, EPM1270 was used as the main chip; the modular design concept was used for external circuit design including power and reset circuit module, clock module, LED display module, dot-matrix display modules, LED lamp driver module, DIP switch module, and buzzer module. The main program was complied by VHDL language on software development and design. Signal was measured and monitored by a design idea of modularization and top-down. Pulse and heart rate were measured by divider module, timer module, counter module, comparator module, dot-matrix display module, and display module of count display data. The current health status of the body could be determinated by the outlier form the caution signal. Rules and uniformity of pulse rate, pulse and heart rate, and heart rate uniformity were supervised by the system.
