With the increasing of China's urban population, the subway tends to become one of the important travel tools in modern life. So the research for subway system has the major value in theory and application. The subway internal LED is the display terminal for public and the window of information transmission in the subway system. At present, domestic existing subway systems have almost been equipped with the LED display which the flexibility of its controller and the diversity of its display effect remain to be further improved.Currently, most LED controllers are driven directly by I/O of MCU and the display interface is so simple that it's difficult to meet the diversity requirements of video terminal for the metro. In order to meet the requirements of flexibility for metro operating system, this article dedicates to the development and design of the LED controller software system. The new LED controller receives the dominant news from subway through the Ethernet, displays the corresponding picture, switches LED screen combination dynamically, combines according to certain rules freely, works out a complex perfect show agreement and finally shows passengers rich information. At the same time, train communication part is based on Ethernet, and receives process data from the train to keep the entire current LED controller with the latest data. While the process data will be sent to the train continuously and reports the current state of LED controller to the train control.This article firstly designs the overall framework of the LED controller. In the next, it introduces the communication module, analytic module and display module. The LED controller is developed on the platform of Linux operating system and because of its good supportive to network it can communicates with the train controller conveniently. Meanwhile, the development which is based on the Qt interface library has flexible window management system which helps to achieve all kinds of complicated pictures, and to greatly reduce the complexity of the software design.The new LED controller which is designed in this article can effectively meet the trains' demands for terminal diversity and flexibility. Its response speed is fast and its display effect tends to be diversity and plentiful. What's more, the research result has been applied to a driverless subway.
