With the vigorous development of electronic technology, electronic devices consumer market calls for portable products much than before. Portable means small size, low power and high performance, which makes wireless receiver front-end chip with the increasing application.In the wireless receiver, frequency synthesizer is an important module. The voltage-controlled oscillator, for frequency synthesizer, that is a core component of the circuit. VCO's performance directly affects the overall system performance, and it is also the point and design challenges of receiver frequency synthesizer. It generally uses CMOS process technology to produce large scale integrated circuit, so the CMOS VCO is a market research focus and priorities.This paper summarizes the analysis and research of VCO which are made by other scholars. And it discusses the inductor-capacitor VCO mechanism, and performance analysis of on-chip inductors and on-chip capacitors and theoretical analysis and modeling.Finally in the research foundation of oscillator, inductance and capacitance, proposed an optimization model of the inductance capacitance VCO, and designed and analyzed oscillator circuit by Cadence. Reasonable parameters of components is using in this paper to make the circuit achieve a better level of performance. TSMC 0.13 technology library and Cadence Spectre RF simulation tools is using in this paper. Under the working voltage of 1.2, the output frequency range of the VCO is 5.122~5.152 GHz, and quiescent current is only 2.14mA.
