With the refinement of divisions in the logistic areas as well as popularization of the frozen food in our country, cold chain which requires transportation with low temperature has arisen. It is essential to control the quality of cold chain and management of the temperature immediacy. Nowadays, most of the companies dealing with cold chain transportation manage the individual temperature records based on temperature recorders on the vehicles. This phenomenon results in the facts that the temperatures couldn't be controlled immediately and the records can't be analyzed. Right now there aren't any solutions towards this problem yet. If the temperature could be controlled immediately, it would be possible that the management of cold train transportation could be more efficient which might bring considerate economic and social benefits.As a popular technology in the Internet of Things, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) has been used in the logistic area, but it is only used as a way of identification. RFID could be more than that. This article aims to elaborate the creative application of inserting the technology of temperature control into RFID. Along with GPS (Global Position System) which is a more mature technology and other technologies such as communication, computer, internet and etc, this application could identify the position as well as control the temperature at the same time in the cold chain transportation monitoring system.The paper is based on such a background. At first, the scheme of cold chain transportation monitoring system is present. It adopts a structure of two level as vehicle terminal and display center. The position is depended mainly on GPS positioning and odometer,electronic compass. Combined with GPRS wireless transmission, all information will be sent to monitoring center to be displayed, recorded and managed.Then, the paper made the design of the software and hardware of the terminal system based on FPGA, and realize the interface with GPS, RFID, GPRS, odometer and electronic compass, etc, finished functions of receive and dead reckon and data transmission.At last, the monitoring center software is designed with the use of GIS and database technology. The designed system can show the position of vehicle on the electronic map in real time, and can record, access all of historical data.
