At present, the barcode image recognition technology is increasingly used in the field of information. The information of products can be quickly provided by identifying barcode images. In order to meet the requirement of real-time, the paper finishes a barcode identification system in DSP and FPGA.The system is used to capture barcode image, process barcode image, transport barcode image and display barcode image. Firstly collect barcode image, secondly process barcode image, and finally transfer identification results to the PC by the FireWire interface.The main contents are as follows:1. System hardware design. Finish hardware schematics, PCB and circuit board hardware debugging.2. System software design. Design the various peripherals driver of DSP, FPGA image acquisition program, the interface program between DSP and FPGA, the image display program of PC.3. 1394 communication realization. By reading technical documentation of 1394, we achieve barcode image transmission between the hardware platform and PC.4. Barcode identification algorithm. Barcode identification algorithm is finished in each sub-algorithm principle and details of the barcode recognition process, and code is optimized and transplanted to DSP.
