Semiconductor technology has been rapidly and greatly developed in the past three decades. Now Semiconductor Company is facing the dual pressure, the frequent mobility of talents and the optimal management of equipment. In this paper the author according to the perennial work experience studied on how to establish an system in order to improve the efficiency and the intelligence of the technical equipment maintenance, and how to evaluate this thus to do the relevant analysis. At last the author implemented a set of evaluation system on semiconductor equipment maintenance competency.This study of the semiconductor Assembly and Test company is focus on how to improve the competency of technicians (the production floor technicians, equipment and process engineers, QA laboratory technicians and the technical staff related to the facility on the ground) on equipment maintenance and how to implement the evaluation system of equipment maintenance. The main study contents include(1)The project management on how to improve the technician's equipment maintenance competency.This is the foundation on how to improve the management by the technical ability. And it mainly involves the classification of training level, the reasonable arrangement of different trainings. Take the advanced training according to the staff's performance and feedback.(2) Design and implement both of equipment maintenance competency improvement and the competency evaluation.The system is mainly on how to objectively establish assessment system of the technical competency including the periodical examination of the technician's equipment maintenance skill, the theory and practical operation. The technical ability score card contains solving speed and quantity to the difficult problem and the feedback from engineers or higher levels. Whether the technicians are willing to share their knowledge and experience, and how about the quality, quantity and the difficulty level of their sharing. The improvement on the equipment maintenance competency and the evaluation systems mainly depended on ES (Expert System) and MEPT (Equipment Maintenance Performance Tracking) system to objectively obtain the data of the technician's equipment maintenance competency. The main function of the expert system is to guide the technician effectively study the knowledge on equipment maintenance and the corresponding evaluation data. The content mainly included the equipment maintenance technician's fault solution quantity uploaded and downloaded, making the statistics on the vague equipment maintenance solution and knowledge, motivating the staff to make good use of the resources in this system, giving the training again to the staff who did not well understand the corresponding knowledge. MEPT system can track the equipment operation to acquire equipment performance at the moment, and then judge the technician's professional equipment maintenance competency. The combinations of the two systems achieve the purpose of the personnel training, and digital evaluation on the technician's equipment maintenance competency. In this paper, the author put forward the new equipment maintenance competency and the corresponding evaluation system, which have made some achievements in the application of author's company.In this paper, we raised a system on how to improve the equipment maintenance competency in semiconductor Assembly and Test company,and studied its evaluation model. This study had the significant theoretical and practical meaning on how to improve semiconductor equipment maintenance competency and how to establish the evaluation system of the equipment maintenance competency. Also it was proved to be with the certain practical reference value.
