The Survey And Analysis Of University Library's SNS Services

Web2.0 creates the SNS, which is based on the theory of "Six Degrees of Separation". SNS should be integrated into daily services of library, with the help of that, the library can broaden the communication rings. There is no doubt that communication between users and the library has a great impact to library's information services. With SNS, the library can build deeper relationships with readers and form a kind of "stickness", cultivating readers'loyalty. About the SNS, both at home and abroad, the library communities discuss and practice a lot, it brings a revolution to the library field, and it gives the library new opportunity and direction to expand the function and perfect the management.Many foreign libraries join in Myspace and Second Life in order to offer their services to their readers. A virtual library building by Stanford University Library in Second Life is the most mature one in library's SNS service. It is a huge attract to the readers. At home, the most typical use of SNS services are Tsinghua University Library in the public page of Renren net named "Tsinghua University Library Book Club" and the Chongqing University library's SNS knowledge community named "Personal Study", which is totally established by the university itself. The two libraries show us different ways using SNS for its expansion of library services, and they form their own way to complete it. In this paper, the writer do the research of the different universities'SNS web site, analyze and summary the different functions of the universities'web sites and their modules, and do the sample survey of readers from the universities, in order to explore the result of the web site's running.Based on the research and analysis, the writer suggest that university libraries should offer SNS services, and join in the online website to achieve the service. Then, the writer offers some advices about the problems which should be noted in libraries'SNS service.This article is composed by the introduction, social network service, site investigation, the readers'satisfaction survey, proposed strategies and the summary, all 6 parts. Through this research, the writer hopes to fully understand the status of domestic and foreign SNS theory and practice using in the library, then analyzes the typical Web site cases to understand the building and application of SNS effect in the status of foreign university library, trying to find better ways of developing libraries'SNS and providing advices for the use of SNS.
