Microsoft New Generation Of Streaming Media Technology Research And Prototype Realization

Streaming media technology is the Internet technology research hot spot. The new generation streaming media technology is adaptive streaming media technology (HTTP Streaming). HTTP Smooth Streaming is the HTTP Streaming solution of Microsoft. It has many advantages such as strong bandwidth adaptability and short latency time, based on these technical advantages and Microsoft effective market operation, this new streaming media technology will become the mainstream technology of the next generation streaming media technology.Microsoft designed a kind of software named Expression Encoder as HTTP Smooth Streaming encoder. And Microsoft also designed two kinds of software as HTTP Smooth Streaming server, which named Smooth Streaming and Live Smooth Streaming. This experiment analyzed the data packet of HTTP Smooth Streaming and found out the elements of Expression Encoder, realized the encode part of this new technology.The achievement of this experiment included these aspects:(1) Picked up the mp4 muxer of ffmpeg.(2) Loaded the x264 encoder, and transplants the codes to vs2008.(3) Transformed mp4 file to ismv file, ismc file and ism file, which can support HTTP Smooth Streaming vod mode.(4) Segmented encapsulated h264 data streaming to ismv data streaming, which can support HTTP Smooth Streaming live mode.System testing verifies the validity of this method in laboratory wireless network environment.
