Research And Implementation Of Key Technologies In Streaming Media System Based On HTTP

With the growing popularity and development of Internet and 3G Communication networks, the streaming media technology is more and more widely used in our lives. However, the traditional media technology not only requires a high network bandwidth, but also needs a lot of local storage resources in user's computers. As the bandwidths of different users are different and the network bandwidths keep changing. There may be a pause as users enjoying current video when bandwidth is low, and not a corresponding HD video is available even under high bandwidth scenario which causes a waste in bandwidth.In order to solve the network bandwidth dependency short coming of streaming media technology, several adaptive streaming technologies based on HTTP protocol are proposed, such as the Smooth Streaming Technology proposed by Microsoft, and HTTP Live Streaming Technology proposed by Apple. The adaptive streaming technologies change the encoding rate according to the network bandwidth, and eliminate the problems caused by network bandwidth dependency both under high or low bandwidth scenario which improve the quality of user video experience.The main work of this paper:(1) Learn the basic principles and development of the media streaming technology, and then make an in-depth study on key technologies of the Adaptive Streaming based on HTTP.(2) Analyze the video live and on-demand communication interface between Expression Encoder 4 Pro and IIS 7.0, then design a video live and on-demand push module utilizes the Smooth Streaming technology and HTTP Live Streaming technology. And then construct a comprehensive Adaptive Streaming system by integrating the designed push module with the encoding modules.(3) Test every modules of the system and then give a comprehensive.Tested under the LAN and WAN, the HTTP-based adaptive streaming media system achieved a good result. We can enjoy the smooth video activities by a computer or an Apple mobile using both Smooth Streaming technology and HTTP Live streaming technology.
