The permafrost disasters occur quite frequently in our high latitudes and cold area, which bring great risk to the project construction and social development. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor the real-time change of permafrost temperature, which can support the research on freeze-thaw character and reduce the harm of frozen earth. The traditional method of permafrost monitoring is artificial or semi-artificial, which is vulnerable to hazardous weather. It has poor reliability and can not meet the need of long-term monitoring in the tundra. Considering the problem that the harsh environmental condition limits the acquisition and monitoring of data, a permafrost temperature remote monitoring system based on GPRS is expanded and developed.Considering the problem that traditional monitoring is sensitive to the environment, this paper studies the characteristics and implement modes of the wireless communication of the remote monitoring system. Compared with several popular methods of wireless communication, the GPRS is selected as the data transmission mode of the monitoring system. Based on this,the function of monitoring sofware is expended and upgraded. The monitoring software supplies the functions such as data acquisition, real-time data show, data storage and remote control, reduces the cost of data collection and improves the efficiency. The practical application results show the effectiveness of the remote monitoring software. However, due to the limitation of data sharing, only one user can view the data at the same time and the software can not realize the goal of real-time monitoring of multi-user and multi-region. To solve this problem, a monitoring website is developed to post permafrost temperature data to the Internet supporting the monitoring software, which expands the scope and improves the real-time capability of data monitoring. Furthermore, the monitoring website solves data sharing and realizes real-time data monitoring of multitudes. The remote monitoring system of frozen soil realizes the function of data collection, transmission and sharing automatically, which supports the research of frozen soil scientifically and effectively.The remote monitoring software and website of frozen soil have practical significance.
