With the rapid development of city construction, the control modes and methods for primary street lamp are not competent of the request of modern cities. Thus the design of street lamp monitor system with a high degree of automation, function reliable, saving energy high efficient and using and maintenance convenient become a developing trend.The design and the development of remote monitor terminal of street lamp is addressed in the paper. Firstly the existing problems and research actuality of street lamp systems are introduced, followed by the analysis of the structure of the street lamp monitor system. Then, the design proposal, which is constructed by using the GPRS as the communication network and the ARM7 microprocessor as core of remote monitor terminal, is suggested. GPRS communication system links the networks mode of fixed IP and fixed port, and implements the communication of monitor center with the remote monitor terminal. The designing principle and the function of remote monitor terminal are also introduced in the paper. In this way, the whole design block diagram of the hardware and schematic diagram has been realized. And the designing and debugging of the key board based on S3C44B0X of Samsung and parameter gathering control module is finished.With the corresponding platform and circuit board, a control device of remote monitor terminal is built up, which makes good bases for the research of the whole street lamp systems. In addition, these researches give bases for further study on street lamp systems.
