With the rapidly developing of the embedded and wireless communication technology,data acquisition terminals that depend on the wireless data transmission network and based on the platform of embedded systems,have been more widely used.The paper makes the research and design a data acquisition and monitoring terminal based on ARM Embedded Linux in the background of this thesis. The hardware of this terminal is on the chip named S3C2440 which was designed by Samsung company., and transplant an Embedded Linux on it. Mainly implement the following functions:the first is that the data collectted is transported by the Zigbee module, and saved in the SD card or USB flash disk, then managed by Embedded SQlite Database; the second is that the terminal is controlled through 7 inch touch screen, and Man-machine interaction interface is designed by the means of Embedded Qt engine; the last is that the data processed is transported to the server through the GPRS module, the purpose of this make it easily to controlle and save data.First, on the basis of the thoughts of the hardwrae of ARM, the circuit has been designed and debugged. The process of building Embedded Linux was introduced, and the structure of Linux kernel and the process of it were analysised detailedly, then the Linux kernel and Root file system has been translated and made. The Communication mode and the usage method of module Zigbee and GPRS were introduced, and on the basis of these, the design of software of the them was complied. At last, the design of software of SQlite database and the transplantment and usage method of Embedded Qt engine were introduced.Practicability of this terminal is good and powerful. It can be used to collect and save data, and monitor and control remotely in the domain of industry, agriculture and science. Because of its universal property, it is easily to apply it to the other situation with little change.
