With the rapid development and wide application of embedded technology and wireless communications technology , remote data acquisition system which combines two kinds of advantages well is being researched and exploited continuously. With the isolation data acquisition instrument which was carried out by the traditional SCM is being digitally transformed, the development of the intelligent acquisition terminals which involved the new embedded technology and information network technology has become a hot issue.Under this background, through colligating the merit and shortcoming of the traditional remote data acquisition terminal, the thesis does research and realization about remote data acquisition system based on the ARM technology and GPRS technology, aiming at the new requirements of data acquisition which has been put forwarded from an enterprise's online sources of pollution automatic monitoring and controlling system.Combining theory and practice, the thesis elaborates on the design and development process of the data acquisition system which uses ARM-based processor and embedded Linux OS. The main contents are as follows: First, the paper analyzes the requirements of system hardware resources and introduces ARM microprocessor and developboard which was used by the project. Second, it analyzes characteristics and advantages of the embedded Linux OS. Third, starting from the analysis of the Linux kernel, the paper deeply analyzes the scheduling mechanisms, real-time mechanisms and storage management for the embedded system application. Fourth, based on the analysis of the BootLoader and kernel booting codes, the paper describes the method and steps of transplanting the U-boot and ARM-Linux kernel. Fifth, the paper details the embedded file system and the process of building the file system; studies deeply the theory of device driver and the mechanisms of kenerl module and codes the driver for GPIO.The author codes for system applications and completes the main functions of system ,such as the data remote transmission by GPRS and the serial communication between monitoring equipment and the data acquisition system and the simple data management, finally analyzes the performance of the system.Through the above analysis and design, the paper achieves the embedded data acquisition system based on the ARM and GRPS, meeting the needs of the project.
