In the light of modern educational theories, we should pay attention to the development of students'creative thinking and abilities, encourage them to learn in loose and comfortable environments and provide opportunities for them to take practical tasks. As one of the most effective and efficient way of developing students'practical skills, experiment-based teaching can play an irreplaceable role in student development, and to what extent it can play depends on experiment contents and laboratory management method, both of which need continual development and improvement.As the main place for experiment-based teaching, a laboratory is irreplaceable for the improvement of students' practical capabilities. Modern laboratories show such characters as huge size, diverse function, layering, opening, enormous investment, large spacing and multidiscipline crossing. Consequently, laboratory-related task is becoming more complex and difficult, and involving more aspects.A laboratory is a place for both scientific research and teaching at campus, a base for the realization of quality-oriented education and development of creative awareness and practical ability. Such issues, including how well laboratories are constructed and managed, how well experimental facilities are configured and whether they are in scientific use, how experiment contents are arranged, what the teaching and managing at and of laboratories are like, not only affect teaching and scientific research, but also have something to do with school and students development. Ultimately, laboratory management is for us to take full use of experimental resources, raise facility utilization rate and improve experimental teaching quality. Laboratory management is one important task in college management, and as to centralized experimental teaching center, integrated management and modern laboratory management systems are more imperative.As science and technology becomes more advanced and IT more mature, they are playing more and more important roles in all social sectors. For example, computers and network can greatly enhance management efficiency. With the building of campus network in colleges and universities, campus network and Internet-based application systems are in blooming design and development and in the train comes laboratory management systems and they are widely used.After consulting much materials and make some survey, it is discovered that existing laboratory management systems are only concerning hardware, and rarely involve management of experiment-based teaching. However, as experiment-based teaching appears and students need more independent learning, it has become imperative to break the traditional managing methods for experiment-based teaching and realize technology-supported management.To complete this paper, the author reviews plenty of literature and does a thorough research on the current laboratory management systems. Then with the experiment-based teaching information management system developed by the Information Spreading and Experiment-based Teaching Model Center as discussion resource, the author analyzes all the problems encountered during practical task, summarizes the shortcomings existing in the Center management, and does some early analysis, including analysis of property requirement, function requirement and feasibility, and makes systematical design, containing design of structure and database, and makes the functions come true.Since the information management system for experiment-based teaching begins to run, we have made favorable managerial effects and solved some conundrums existing in experiment-based teaching management for a long time. We have brought about paperless, informational and modern management, and greatly improved administrative efficiency. In this way, the demands of experiment center management are better met and this center better plays its role as a model.
